Marquesate
has been imagining worlds since long before they appeared
as words on a page.
Having
lived in several countries and dreamed in more than one language,
Marquesate creates fiction that often starts from a simple
idea and takes unforeseen directions, as does life itself.
Writing from inspiration yet enjoying meticulously exploring
and researching lives and places and adding a dose of personal
experience, Marquesate combines imagination and authenticity
to bring fiction closer to reality - making the fictional
worlds real.

From
living in a military town and wondering what multiple lives
were hidden behind the bland faces and identity concealing
uniforms, Marquesate has created a work with Her Majesty's
Men that touches the humanity behind the façade.
In Her
Majesty's Men, the two Royal Engineers Tom and Alex
have no idea what is about to happen to them. They are soldiers,
seemingly typical Army blokes, living and working in a complex
universe of duty, adventure and friendship.
Throughout
the 'Mission Cycle'
these two squaddies learn to understand the meaning of loyalty
and strength. Their fight for survival cutting through all
the different worlds they live in, to tie them together in
a unique bond of companionship, courage and trust.
Her
Majesty's Men is the story of two soldiers in the British
Army and their unwavering friendship. From the revelation
of personal secrets, ensuing hatred and aggression; through
near-fatal injury by rebel enemies, proving loyalty, triumphant
strength and courage; to the acceptance of what they are:
one gay, the other straight but traumatised, best friends
first and foremost, lovers secondly. In the face of the Army
and their comrades just two mates who are very close.
Neither Alex
nor Tom exist in a social vacuum. Their world is richly furnished
within their military context, with family, friends and duties,
and yet the story remains focussed on these two soldiers and
the growth of their friendship, which withstands the greatest
threats to loyalty and demands the strongest display of courage
and trust.
This
website allows a glimpse into the world of Staff Sergeant
Alex Turner and Sergeant Tom Warren, with the first Mission
- Mission I: Digging
Trenches - from the Mission cycle.
Her
Majesty's Men has had an extensive second-edit and
will be available in print as soon as that process has been
finished. Information will be posted on this website and on
the blog and
LiveJournal
community.
